INTERMEDITE CARE FACILITIES

ICF's are better for residents who require 24-hour supervision and have Intermittent nursing care needs, major defects in functioning that would benefit by Continuous Active Treatment. Active treatment is the extra training in functional areas like feeding, dressing and grooming, social behavior, toileting, sensory and motor skills. Instead to just caring and doing for the resident, active treatment is aimed are teaching residents to be as independent as possible.

ICF's
are required to have consultant assessments and input in the Interdisciplinary Team that develops the formal training objectives. Consultants include an occupational therapist, RN, QIDP, physical therapist, recreational therapist, speech therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist for behavioral issues,
